Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 July 2025

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the LiteStats website (litestats.io) and analytics service operated by LiteStats ("we", "us", "our"), a sole trader registered in Ireland.

By creating an account, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Data Processing Agreement. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

1. Service description

LiteStats provides a privacy-first, cookieless web analytics service. We offer a lightweight tracking script that website owners embed on their sites, and a dashboard to view aggregated, non-personal analytics data. All data is hosted within the European Union.

2. Account registration

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
  • One person or entity may not maintain more than one account.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Free trial

New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with full access to the service. At the end of the trial period, you must select a paid plan to continue using the service. If you do not select a plan, access to the dashboard and analytics data will be suspended until a plan is chosen. No payment details are required to start a trial.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use LiteStats only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the service to track websites you do not own or have authorisation to track
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service
  • Send automated or bot traffic to artificially inflate analytics
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service without our written permission
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, its infrastructure, or other users' use of the service
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its systems
  • Use the service to collect personal data about website visitors beyond what the tracking script is designed to collect

5. Your data

You retain ownership of all analytics data collected through your use of the service. We process this data on your behalf as a data processor under the terms of our Data Processing Agreement.

You are responsible for ensuring your use of LiteStats complies with applicable privacy laws in your jurisdiction, including providing appropriate disclosures in your website's privacy policy. While LiteStats is designed to be cookieless and privacy-friendly, you remain the data controller for your website visitors' data.

6. Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We may perform scheduled maintenance or emergency updates that temporarily affect availability. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of scheduled maintenance where practical.

7. Pricing and payment

  • LiteStats offers paid subscription plans as described on our pricing page.
  • Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe, our payment processor.
  • All prices are listed in Euros (€) and are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
  • Prices may change with 30 days' prior notice. Existing subscriptions continue at the current rate until the next renewal.
  • Refunds are available within 14 days of payment if you are unsatisfied with the service. Refund requests should be sent to support@litestats.io.
  • If payment fails, we may suspend access to the service until payment is resolved.

8. Suspension and termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, without prior notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms or any applicable law
  • Your use of the service poses a security risk to the service or other users
  • You fail to pay applicable fees after reasonable notice
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period (see our Privacy Policy for specific retention periods)

Upon termination for cause, we may delete your data immediately. In all other cases of termination, data will be retained for 30 days before permanent deletion.

9. Cancellation

You may cancel your account at any time from Account Preferences → Privacy & Data. Upon cancellation:

  • If on a paid plan, you retain access until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for the remaining billing period.
  • Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of the end of your billing period.
  • You may export your data before cancellation takes effect.

10. Intellectual property

The LiteStats name, logo, website, tracking script, and service are our intellectual property or the intellectual property of our licensors. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved. You may not use our trademarks without written permission. The tracking script is provided for use solely in connection with the LiteStats service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • LiteStats shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
  • LiteStats shall not be liable for any loss arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control (see Force Majeure).
  • Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LiteStats and its officers, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Any content or data you submit to the service
  • Your infringement of any third-party rights

13. Force majeure

LiteStats shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, internet or telecommunications failures, power outages, cyberattacks, pandemics, or acts of war.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on our website at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the service.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and LiteStats regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
